Former prison guard fights job dismissal
Indiana State Prison in Michigan City
In July of last year, two murderers and a rapist escaped the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.
The three inmates were eventually captured, but some of the guards working during their escape were fired because of it.
Our partners at the News Dispatch report, one of the guards is now fighting his dismissal. Jonathan Waldo says he notified prison officials of a broken tunnel gate about a week before the escape, but no one followed up on it.
Prison officials say Waldo didn't convey the "severity" of the problem.
