Ex-inmate arrested over trip near prison escape Associated Press
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — Authorities say a convicted murderer released two months ago from the Indiana State Prison admits visiting a nearby casino the day before three inmates he knew escaped from the maximum-security prison. Paul Komyatti Jr. was arrested on parole violation charges after investigators questioned him about Sunday's escape. He is accused of unauthorized travel for going from his Indianapolis home to the Indiana Dunes State Park and Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City on Friday and Saturday.
Authorities say he admitted knowing the escapees but denied any contact with them. Two of the inmates remained at large Thursday. The 44-year-old Komyatti spent 26 years in prison for participating in the 1983 decapitation slaying of his father in Hammond for which his brother-in-law was executed.
