Judge gives max to inmate in NJ 'Shawshank' escape The Associated Press ELIZABETH, N.J. - A judge has given the maximum sentence to one of two New Jersey men whose jail breakout mirrored the movie "The Shawshank Redemption." The judge sentenced Otis Blunt to five years in prison for the December 2007 breakout from the Union County Jail. Blunt was later acquitted of the robbery charge for which he'd been jailed. Jose Espinosa will be sentenced later Friday. Authorities say the pair dug through cinder block and left a taunting note that named a corrections officer. The officer, Rudolph Zurick, later committed suicide. The escape led to reforms at the jail. Blunt was captured in Mexico City and Espinosa was found in Elizabeth nearly a month later. www.philly.com/philly/wires/ap/news/state/new_jersey/20090626_ap_judgegivesmaxtoinmateinnjshawshankescape.html
