GEORGETOWN, SC (WIS) - A Georgetown County Detention Center Correctional Officer stands accused of unlawfully using a Taser on an inmate according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say 22-year-old Dondiedra Anderson stands charged with assault and battery.
Investigators say they received information from a sheriff’s office employee who witnessed the incident said it occurred on March 24.
Officials say the incident occurred when Anderson entered the cell of a booked inmate who was complaining of a broken toilet. They say after entering the cell, Anderson removed the inmate and that inmate shut the cell door on her.
Authorities say when another corrections officer opened the cell for Anderson, she grabbed the inmate and tased her while she held her.
Anderson was terminated after her actions were deemed unlawful. She turned herself in to authorities and was transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center where she is currently being held awaiting a bond hearing.
