Staff Development Emergency Operations is pleased to announce the release of 10 new computer based training programs. This is an easy way to pick up the last few hours you need for this fiscal year. The topics are as follows:
· Advanced Criminal Manipulation – Because we communicate and interact with offenders on a daily basis, this training will help you to identify, understand, respond and manage offender manipulation, deceptions and con games.
· Developing A Progress Report – A progress report is one of the main ways the IDOC shares offender information. This training describes each section of the progress report, the information that should be included and the correct manner in which to complete the report.
· Hazardous Communications – Hazardous materials have characteristics that render them hazardous in specific circumstances. This module introduces guidelines designed to assist management, supervision, and employees in working together to safeguard one another.
· How to Develop an Effective RAP – This training describes the proper format and entries required to produce an effective RAP, outlining personalized interventions the offender will complete during his/her incarceration.
· Managing Female Offenders – This module provides insight into the differing realities of women offenders in institutional and community settings, including pathways into criminality, response to custody and supervision.
· Managing Multiple Projects – This lesson covers techniques for managing multiple projects. Topics include setting goals, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, planning and organizing, and techniques for better time management.
· Supervising High Risk Offenders – Anyone who supervises high risk offenders will gain valuable information on offender programs and services, disruptive behaviors and staff safety issues.
· Supervision of Paroled Offenders – Effective parole supervision requires the use of a behavioral management process to reduce recidivism. This lesson will explore some of the core concepts of effective supervision practices.
· Tips for Improving Grammar and Proofreading Skills – This module addresses some common errors made in daily communication, including verbal and written skills.
· Weekly Safety Inspections – It is not uncommon to miss a safety or sanitation hazard; however, with this training program as a guide, properly conducting weekly safety and sanitation inspections will help identify issues before they escalate into hazardous or unhealthy situations.
