Former jail guard charged with sex with inmate
FLORENCE, SC (AP) – A former jail guard in South Carolina has been arrested and accused of having sex with an inmate. The Morning News of Florence reported that former Florence County jail guard Francisco Morgan of Coward was arrested Monday.
A State Law Enforcement Division arrest warrant states that the 38-year-old Morgan had sex with a prisoner. Morgan is charged with two counts of misconduct in office and malfeasance and two counts of aggravated assault and battery.
Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Munn says Morgan resigned in May following complaints of misconduct.
SLED agents allege that sometime between Feb. 7 and May 26, Morgan made sexual comments and physical contact with an inmate under his supervision at the Effingham jail.
It was unclear if Morgan had an attorney.
