The Indiana Department of Correction is pleased to introduce the Tuition Reimbursement Program (TRP). The TRP is a state-funded tuition reimbursement program for all permanent Department of Correction employees and is designed to assist in defraying the expenses individuals incur when taking educational courses.
To qualify, employees must have completed the working test period and obtained permanent status with the agency. The educational course(s) must be offered by an accredited Indiana-based institution and must benefit the employee with increased knowledge or skill that contributes to job performance and/or will prepare the employee for advancement within the Department of Correction. Eligible applicants may be awarded up to 75% of tuition and course related fees (up to a maximum of $2,200 per fiscal year per employee).
Employees interested in applying for the Tuition Reimbursement Program should print the TRP Application Packet available below (including the application, the TRP Guidelines, and the Agreement for Repayment forms) or obtain a copy of the information from their HR office. Applicants must include a course description for each course they are taking.
After completing both forms, they must be given to the applicant’s immediate supervisor for approval and signatures. The supervisor must make a recommendation, provide comments, sign and date the application and forward the application, the signed repayment agreement, and course description(s) to:
Indiana Department of Correction -Human Resources Division
302 W. Washington St., Room E334
Indianapolis, IN 46204
All applications must be submitted and approved by the Human Resources Division Director no earlier than 8 weeks before the course(s) begin and no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the course(s). Any application received outside this time frame will be returned to the employee.
The DOC TRP Committee will approve or disapprove the application and notify the applicant directly in writing. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive a letter and a copy of the approved application.
**Please note: If the information on the application changes (i.e. course is cancelled or applicant will be taking the course at a later date), it is the responsibility of the applicant to notify the Human Resources Director. Some situations may require an applicant to resubmit the application.
