Officials with Kentucky State Police and the Department of Corrections raided offices at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Johnson County on Thursday.
Investigators there tell 27 NEWSFIRST they have a subpoena to recover all records from the prison, including inmate information and financial documents...
They confirmed to our newsroom that the documents could provide information on a criminal investigation, though they're not mentioning specifics.
Police also told us that an inmate at the prison died on Friday, but police say that isn't the entire focus of this investigation.
The Big Sandy holds inmates from Johnson, Martin, Magoffin, and Lawrence counties.
